Route description
A pleasant option for a short walk through the Collserola massif with a stop at a café that offers typical Spanish and Catalan dishes and snacks, including seasonal ones, for example, calçot onions (calçots).
The trail connects two commuter train stations Baixador de Vallvidrera (FGC) and Molins de Rei (Rodalies R4), passing through picturesque places, filled with history.
The road is part of the national route GR-92, after passing which you will see:
Puig d d’Olorda – a summit with panoramic views of Barcelona. This peak is included in the list "100 Summits of Catalonia" (100 Cims). If you wish, you can skip this stop on the route 😊
Hermitage of Santa Creu d’Olorda – a Romanesque chapel founded in the 9th century. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed during the Civil War, but the remaining ruins were restored. Now it is a historic site where you can have a picnic and admire the views, or enjoy Spanish tapas and cold drinks in cafe-restaurant , from whose terrace there are breathtaking views.
Abandoned quarry Pedrera dels Ocells, awe-inspiring in its size.
Ruins of a 14th-century castle.
Recommendations
The route is suitable for a leisurely walk on a day off; however, if you want to enjoy lunch or tapas at a bar, we recommend choosing a weekday.
And, of course, don't forget to take water with you and equip yourself with a pair of comfortable trekking shoes!
Snack recommendations you definitely need to try:
calçots in season (approximately from November to March);
classics: patatas bravas, huevos rotos;
an acquired taste: snails, pig snouts.
