Two important notes!
First.
Passage along the Canal del Freser water conduit is prohibited at the present time (2026). This is stated on posters at the exits to the water conduit line and official announcement. Justification - risk of rockfalls and the hazardous condition of the wooden decking and rock footbridges.
Second.
The route itself is not difficult. However, it requires a certain degree of caution and attentiveness. It is necessary not to lose the line of movement on the bypasses around the siphon sections of the aqueduct, where the trail in places scrambles up the slope among rocks and overgrown bushes. On the aqueduct line itself, in some places the overgrown bushes require careful walking along the edge above a drop. Rotten planks of the walkways that cover the aqueduct from above also pose a certain threat. One must understand that falling into the watercourse can lead to tragic consequences due to the high speed and considerable depth of the flow in some sections.
The real state of affairs.
There is movement along the canal, although it is not very intense. This is shown by the state of the Strava heatmap and the condition of the trail on the detour sections.
Route description
The route starts from parking lots near the Central Elèctrica de Daió power plant.
The start of the route can also be reached by public transport. You can start from the Queralbs stop on the Ribes de Freser - Nuria cog railway. From there to the Daió car park it's a 1km walk.
See the train schedule from Ribes de Freser to Queralbs. here
As of 2026, commuter train services on some sections of line R3 are temporarily suspended. See options to get to Ribes de Freser here

Parking is paid, the cost is 5 euros per car per day, payment strictly cashless. The checkpoint attendant appears by the booth at 9:00, until that time you can drive through unhindered. The parking is small, about 30 spaces. In summer, in hot weather, there can be quite a lot of people. After 10 a.m. there is a high probability that no spaces will be left. Then you will have to return to Queralbs and leave the car in the large parking lot by the rack railway station.
